In 2009, Alex founded C.O.R.E. Tennis, directing multiple exclusive member-based clubs across Northern Virginia for 11 years. Under his guidance, C.O.R.E. Tennis flourished, producing numerous USTA National Championship-winning teams and fostering a dynamic community of players. Throughout his leadership, Coach Alex, mentored hundreds of tournament level players, high school varsity athletes, and NCAA Division 1, Il, and Ill competitors.
From 2020 to 2022 Shek was a Co-Owner and Regional Director of Tennis at ProsToYou Tennis (PTY).
In this role, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Washington D.C. region’s largest and premier racquet sports provider. During his tenure, Alex managed over 20 private facilities and 10 tennis and enrichment programs, including the esteemed Montgomery TennisPlex in Germantown, MD, where he helped orchestrate the success of the renowned Jack Schore Invitational championship training programs.
Currently serving as the CityWide Director of Tennis for the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation, Alex Shek continues to exemplify excellence in his commitment to empowering the youth of Washington, D.C.
Founded in 1955, WTEF has been a cornerstone of support for the city's youth, providing tennis instruction and educational support. With a mission to build life champions, WTEF empowers youth to achieve their highest potential by instilling meaningful values and critical skills that lead to lifelong success.
In addition to his work with WTEF, Alex Shek, renowned in the tennis coaching world, not only emphasizes technical skills but also prioritizes holistic player development.
Inspired by the challenges his students faced, he founded Player's Journal, a platform promoting reflection, goal-setting and mental health support for tennis players. Through this initiative, Shek fosters a community where athletes can share their journey, confront obstacles and celebrate successes. Player's Journal has become a sanctuary for self-expression and growth, reflecting Shek's commitment to empowering athletes both on and off the court. His vision transcends tennis, aiming to inspire individuals from diverse backgrounds to embrace self-discovery and reach their full potential.
Finally, Alex is the co-founder of Rebelion Tennis Club (RTC), a brand dedicated to growing the game of tennis and promoting diversity and inclusivity through high-quality clothing with urban trends. Tennis has traditionally been a game reserved for the elite, RTC is here to change that.
Rebelion Tennis Club promotes tennis and makes the game more accessible to a younger, diverse generation. RTC’s goal is to inspire people to step on the court and express themselves through their play and what they wear.
